Update on Cards Received

I’ve been traveling, so am very behind on updates. Very much enjoyed this round, and have received the following since my last update:

Moths in Midflight and Berlin Cathedral from Rince. Compelling prints from pinhole negatives. My negatives from cameras with lenses are rarely this squared up, very well done.

Nice lines and shadows in Crossing the Saltmarsh from Jimo.

San Francisco Beach from Marco. I’m fond of time exposures with ghost people in them, so this hits the spot.

An eye-catching use of almost symmetry (unbalanced symmetry?) in HMAS Hobart from Ozfoto and one of very few color cards in this round.

An otherworldly HIE image from Rachelle, Dragongate Falls, and on a paper I’ve never seen before.

Thanks everyone. It is a pleasure to see scenes and experience techniques and materials that I would never otherwise be exposed to.

Rachelle's "Dragongate Falls" arrived today too - a wonderful card taken on one of my all-time favourite films. Oh how I miss Kodak HIE IR - the one and only roll I played with was a dream!

A long overdue update on cards received. Between the end of August and today, I have received:

JimO's Crossing the salt marsh, a nice meandering walk-bridge, low sun; all in all, nice composition and a nice print.
anikin, Homo Cellphonicus. Well... that's just priceless. Priceless. On an unrelated note, I find myself leaving my phone at home more and more often. Breaking with the evolution. Anyway, great subject, and, wow, a handprinted colour print, how nice!
Rince, Moths in mid flight, nice subject, low-key, well printed. Gotta love that 4x5 ZeroImage.
Rince again, Berlin Cathedral, love the view through the pinhole. Absolutely lovely. Thanks for the double feature, Rince!
mooseontheloose, I hope you will not run out of HIE for years to come, it always amazes me to see what you do with it. HIE and lith printing, now, there's a good combination. At least in this case. Absolutely lovely!
drpsilver, clouds, St. Helena. It seems so simple, and yet, it is so beautiful. A daring shot, with so little foreground/earth/horizon, but it works like a charm.
ozphoto, HMAS Hobart, another great shot, and more than a bit of background story to go with that.

Thank you all, and my apologies for delaying this update for so long.

Five more to go, if I'm correct. Take your time, always curious to see if more cards arrive sooner or later.

I want to apologize to everyone in this round. I had printed my cards and never sent them out. They should be going in today's mail.

I almost commented in the round 33 thread, until I noticed that MrBrowning is not on that address list, but on the one for round 32.
MrBrowning, your card has made it across the pond. Interesting view of a tree that does not care about barbed wire. Thanks!

Thank you for all the beautiful postcards!

I finally sent out my cards last week. I'm sorry for being so late this round. Life got in the way in the last few months and finishing school, moving, and finding a job kept me from making prints that I deemed good enough to send.

Four more postcards made it to my mailbox in the last few weeks.

An unusual tree in the Pratt Rock park by MrBrowning. Looks like the tree is much stronger than the metal wire!

Azalea tree by Bob Slaughter. Very beautiful and the background adds a nice textural contrast. I wish you would have included just a bit more on the bottom to get complete left flower, but it's just me. By the way, I love the water droplets on the petals, nice touch!

A grand courtyard from Dresden by Johannes. Superb composition. Very visually interesting. One of those shots that makes you want to explore the details.

HMAS Hobart by OzPhoto from Thailand. A great photo, but the story makes it perfectly complete. Great, great shot!

Eugene.

Hello everyone!

Thanks for all the excellent cards. I apologize for being so late with this round, it has been an unbelievably busy year. But, there has been plenty of travelling and mountain climbing, which provided me with tons of great subjects for future postcards. Finally ordered some more paper and Dektol, and printed out a set of cards for this round. They'll be sent out before New Years, and I'll be glad to get back in the next round. Felt bad missing round 33, but just didn't have the funding or time to get in the darkroom.

new arrivals

from this round... and very much appreciated... from

rince, "moths...", never would have guessed, a pinhole pix, and wonderfully done, really do get the delicacy of the orchids.
ozphoto, hmas hobart", nice tones, dynamic, too
johnnes/labcoat, "heidelberg castle", spent a year+ in heidelberg so was wonderful to see... brought back some interesting memories - nicely done.
bob slaughter, "indicus azalea", appealing patterns and shapes.

thank you for your conscientiousness and nice pictures.

Boy am I ever behind in my commenting on the excellent postcards I have received in this Round 32. Since my last comment, I have received cards from at least ten people, including a bonus extra card from rince. Here are my comments, including in some cases my best guesses as to an appropriate Title:

anikin - “Homo Cellphonicus” - Colour with a humorous twist. Very well seen.
rince - “Moths in mid-flight” - A really different pinhole image: flowers! I like it
rince - “Berin Cathedral” - A more “traditional” pinhole image. This one makes particularly good use of the perspective distorting potential of the pinhole
JimO - “Crossing the Salt Marsh” - This just grabs me and pulls me in
Pelo78 - “San Francisco Scene” - The “ghost” children intrigue, while the skyline behind beckons
ozphoto - “HMAS Hobart” - A great use of colour, and an intriguing choice of viewpoint
mooseontheloose - “Dragongate Falls” - Another excellent, ethereal HIE shot from Rachelle. I always look forward to them
megzdad81 - “Indicus Azalea” - I really like the tones in the petals
labcoat - “Castle in Heidelburg” - A texture filled detail that contrasts nicely with the tree
MrBrowning - “A Tree in Pratt Rock Park” - I like this. Of course, I really like trees
Kc2edh - “Cheese Cave” - Wonderful geometric progression

By my calculation, that means in this round I have received cards from 15 people, and still await cards from 5 people. I have, however, not been as organized as usual, so if I have received any more, but have misplaced them, please accept my apologies for not recognizing your efforts.

Thanks to all for participating.

Same here, I too received the cheese cave from KC2EDH. Looks good. Look very edible too (the cheese, not the photo). Thanks!
