Better late than never!

Well, in the past six months I've moved three times, started a new job, and have struggled to get my darkroom up and running. But I finally have (yay!) and the postcards are on their way today (a few people will be a little later as I have to pick up more stamps). I really do apologize for the delay everyone -- when I signed up for the exchange I could not have predicted all the things I've had had to deal with since then. Better luck in the future I hope!

I know I haven't commented on everyone's cards, but I've enjoyed each and every one. According to my pile, I haven't received cards from David Bram, Rob Young, sage, and Valerie, although I know others have. But I'm not here to complain since I'm obviously so late! I also haven't received anything from gr2bart or hermit. But everyone else on my list came through -- please let me know if you haven't received my card by the end of April and I'll send another one.

Thanks again everyone for your patience!

I received Rachelle's (Mooseontheloose) ice cone at Helmcken Falls. What a nice photo. Interesting subject (I've never seen or even heard of an ice cone before) well printed.

Thanks John (and everyone else who commented on my card).

I guess the falls never freeze, but the spray that comes off them do. Apparently the ice cone can be as high as 50 metres (the falls are 141m) and can remain until the early summer months. I'll probably go up there again this week and see if it's still kicking around.

I found it hard to get the contrast right and still keeping the snow white. I think it would help from split-grade printing but I couldn't do that with 50 postcards! I'm sure it'll be easier once I print it in a larger size.

Hi Rachelle - your card arrived today and was well worth the wait. The ice cone made for a great subject and would be great to see. I have seen frozen waterfalls but never one with a cone at the base. Nicely printed

sage - I received your card of the funky coffee cups. It has a cool funhouse effect. Thanks.

I'm still missing five cards from the exchange, which I guess is not bad out of 47. Looking forward to the next one!

Valerie,

Maybe it's fitting to finally received your postcard on the day that the next one begins! I really like the image -- it nicely conjures up childhood and summer and just hanging out and having fun.

Art's fine (and funny) card is sitting in front of me.

I'm very glad the wait is "Ogre".

Fess up Art - did you take the shot because of the delay?

Art's card arrived here...wow, and I've missed several exchanges since then, so exactly how late is this one ;-)

Also, hmmm...aren't we supposed to print these ourselves or are people now allowed to, you know, send out to WalMart? Not being critical, just curious...

The rules for the postcard exchange are much more flexible than anything else in the APUG exchange universe.

The image was shot on Kodak Ektacolor transparency film using a Holga toy camera. Sure, I guess I could have printed 50+ cibachromes but then you wouldn't see too many colour photographers participating - oh wait, you don't see too many colour photographers participating ... Anyway it was scanned and yes sent to Walmart since the print is wet processed. I figured that was a suitable compromise. There's not a lot of choice for colour transparency photographers.

Regards, Art.

I've just received a card labelled "Round 15" from stan160. It's a nice interior of St Matthews church, Blackmoor.
Thanks Ian!

Art,

I just received your card from this exchange. I like the perspective on it -- very ogre-ish.
