Mamiya 7ii, 80mm, Kodak Portra 160VC (one film I do sorely miss)

I also would miss UltraColor however I when I heard that it was discontinued, I brought up all of it in the southern California area to keep it from the hoarders. I still have it in my freezer.

I've tried long lenses for this sort of thing. Sometimes it was tough back when I was shooting a D70 and a slow lens. And it compresses the scene. But you can get closer and people stop paying attention to you.

This is just the first example that comes to mind, Never quite got the money shot on this one, she was just rapt for a lot of it. But it was WAY after sunset, so glad I got anything at all.

A stare can work too.
You might try to stand close, compose before the next wave of passengers and try to hold it and shoot from the hip?
You really have to hone your split second sense of "now" for this; le moment decisif.
Good idea though.

The kaboy

If anybody is interested............that was a BIG Facility.
Hard to visualize now how Big/Vast it was.
Several thousand people...in its heyday... would occupy the pools, slides, swings and chairs at one time.

I had never heard of this before. Bit of research brought me to a Thomas Edison film (1897) featuring them.

Thank you, I have only seen the ruins never a movie of it during its operation.
