Post your old images. They must have been taken at least twenty years ago from the date of this post.

Below is mine... sorry for the dust on the scanner bed. It was taken in 1990 during an Air Force live performance talent contest. Camera was an RB67 Pro-S and film was probably Plus-X. Lens was probably the typical 90mm. Light was from two Sunpack 611 strobes or they might have been 622's. The rim-light was set off by the fill flash via one of those "peanut" remote flash synchronizers. Subject was an enlisted Airman who played a very nice classical piece.

Wait... I remember what flashes were used now. The rim light was provided by a Sunpack 622 with the zoom head on telephoto. The fill flash was a Sunpack 611 with the head turned away from the subject and toward the main flash so I would have enough flash power to set off the 622 at distance. I used the soft fall-off of the 611 as fill. I always shot everything on manual for full control.

Here's one of my ex parents-in-law. I once thought of my F-I-L as a second dad... not after the divorce though. This is a studio shot taken in about 1988 for their anniversary. Camera was an RB67 Pro-S with Lindahl shade and soft vignette in front of a typical 180mm lens. Film was VPS II processed and printed by a local lab. The man's smile is a bit forced because he was ill that day and the hand position is awkward because he wanted to show off the rings he'd recently given his wife... he was a jeweler by trade.

Almost every single negative and print I ever made from 1969 to about 2000 has gone, but this is one of 3 10x8 prints I still own from that period.

This is a scan of one of them. The print was made at a photographic shop, the name of which I can't remember and is long since gone, but it was on the corner of Red Lion Street and White Lion Street in Norwich, sometime between 1978 and 1981. It might have been shot on HP5 or Tri-X, but I have no way of knowing for sure. I do know it will have been exposed in a Werra 1.

It was taken at Leiston Abbey in Suffolk.

Yeah, mine too. I just have a few 8x10's from one tiny portfolio that survived several moves, two floods and a divorce. There are a handful of decent black-and-white images I shot when I was young in my parents old house but my brothers are fighting over the estate and I want no part of that quibble. Those most certainly are lost too.

I still have the majority of the slides and negatives I've shot over the last 50 plus years; I had scanned many of them in to allow easy access through LightRoom, but the files were lost when both drives of a RAID 1 array crashed within minutes of each other. This was before I used BackBlaze, a cloud service. I'll look over what I do have and see what might be interesting.

Here's one that was requested by the local rag while I worked at Reese AFB (now defunct) for their Memorial Day cover... maybe about 1992. I wished I had access to a bigger flag to completely cover the background but we work with what we've got, right? RB67 Pro-S with 90mm f/3.8, probably Plus-X, Novatron lights.

1975 -- Two of my first images from the Rolleiflex my father gave me. Neither the roll of film nor the prints were processed by me...that would wait another year and a half when I worked at the Grand Canyon and used their darkroom to make my first prints (1977). Taken when I lived in Hermosa Beach (SoCal) for the winter.

But here is the first image I printed in a photo class (right after working at the Grand Canyon). Rolleiflex, again, and again I did not develop the film. Image from 1977, Printed early in 1978 (on 11x14 Kodak Polycontrast...before I realized that one did not have to use all of the photopaper and one could print a square image!)

Here's the 1st frame on my first roll of B&W. Not processed by me and I didn't think to write the date on the proof sheet. It does say 40secs at f8. I believe it's 1980/81. Ricoh KR-10 with 50mm lens. I probably didn't get close enough!!!

printed on kodak single weight fiber paper ( polyfiber? )

the portrait is is 2 brothers i met at a local diner ( 1985-6? )
their mom asked me to photograph her sons ..
its printed 11x14 on seagul ( blue box g3? ) paper

The "twenty year" thing is really a stretch for me. 1994 was the first year I made photographs. I remember picking up a Speed Graphic (still have it and still use it!) because that was "what you did" for landscapes. I read it in a magazine so it must have been true (Camera and Darkroom days, ahhhh).... Anyway, the first image is a neg scan of the first picture I made with it. The second appeared to me in a dream. When I woke up I remembered it and made the image later that day. Weird. It is a scan of a print that was contemporaneous with the neg. Probably one of the first prints I ever sepia toned. I know this was printed on Agfa Portriga because of all the stippling in the scan.

In 1996 I spilled a beer into the drawer that all of my negatives were in. In a lazy (young and stupid) fashion, I only saved the few that I liked. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that I was schmicky. I kind of regret throwing all of those negs away.

This is from mid 1990s. I don't consider it old by any means. In fact mid-1990s on would probably be when I was nurturing my current aesthetic.
