Post your abstract photographs here

It seems abstract carries different meanings from ... abstract ... to just about anything else. With some great examples there are a number I would never place in such a category.

"Abstract art is art that does not attempt to represent an accurate depiction of a visual reality but instead use shapes, colours, forms and gestural marks to achieve its effect. Wassily Kandinsky. Cossacks 1910–1. Tate. Strictly speaking, the word abstract means to separate or withdraw something from something else."

Some are obviously far from being abstract.

But also, among others, all but one (from @awty ) agave pics are that, agave images. Not critisizing aesthetics of them just categorization.

Kandinsky's Cossacks are classified as slightly pre-Abstract because it's still contains a few representational clues. But that, to me, was near the end of his most interesting phase, before his complete transition. As far as Mohmad's cow is concerned, no, there's nothing abstract about it either, but I really like the image itself; it allows you to fill in your own meta-message.

Probably more Dada or Surrealist.
People should be able to interpret a category as they wish, individuality is important to diversity. I was just being a sheep with my Agave. Never put much thought into abstract photography, I like it as an art form, maybe I should.

There was no offense intended. I was trying to be humorous.

I contacted Sirius asking if there was a thread to post images of details. He said to use the abstract thread, so I did.

Franz Kline and Aaron Siskind both made homages to each others work. Interestingly, it was Kline, the Abstract Expressionist painter, who was the first to make the homage to Siskind's work, the photographer.

I had a quick look at Aaron Siskind work, he is highly influential amongst photographers.
Wonder at what point abstract becomes. Theres many possibilities of variations to the theme with photography.

Or when you effect the camera and printing to gain an abstracted picture.

I think both would qualify and more variations.
BTW I dont try to offend anyone and I assume others are the same, mostly its just misunderstanding.

I would not call that an abstract unless it was a close up of the cloth. I would call it a "fluttering life" photograph.

Is there a difference between a photograph that one can label as an abstract, and a photograph that is an abstraction?
