Cropped and vignette added in lightroom but very light editing otherwise. many flaws can be seen (dust, etc)

First roll of slide film but really happy with how it went. Had to do an 8 second exposure wide open on a f/3.6 90mm lense
 
Please include abstractions such as details with tighter shots which make it hard to puzzle out the full subject.

I have these in my yard and have taken a few runs at them. Never gotten anything quite this compelling or perfectly exposed.

Good thing about them, though, is the green is pretty darned close to middle grey according to the sekonic, so they are a good target for the spot meter. Maybe I need to break out the big camera and have another go at mine.

The image is part of a series. Going into it, I felt that sky light would give me a better chance of obtaining the look I wanted. I shot beginning in the early evening up until dusk and kept the locations to the east side of the Hollywood Hills so the mountains would help block the sun and also give me a longer session. Exposures tended to be from 30 seconds to 5 minutes and breezes were an ongoing problem. To be able to see the interior of the plant, I would weigh down one of the leaves. Processing tended to be mostly in the +1 to +2 range to bring out the contrast as the light was soft and the subject mostly monochromatic.

Fun fact, most of the various photo cells on meters tend to have infrared sensitivity. Plants tend to reflect large amounts of infrared causing the meter to read foliage as brighter than it actually is.

I literally just got done experimenting with the agave in my front yard. I needed a break from work, was walking out front, and saw something that might have been awesome to catch and ran inside to grab the camera -- Alas, it only almost worked. there was a bug on the plant and I was going to use it as a focal point. He was calm and still and nondescript, but right on the middle of a blade. But... it flew away JUST as I got the lens on the camera. Bastard sat there for the whole 5 minutes I was petting the neighbor's cat, but wouldn't stay for a portrait. Such is life.

ANyway, I had 3 frames of XP2 left to use, so time to finish it off and get it developed. MUCH brighter and less diffuse than your light. I tried two angles without much shadow and then one exposed a bit over with some shadows in it, to see how this film does the highlights. I call it a starting point.

I'll revisit it later in the day next time I load that film back. It will be fun to try some of your post-dusk style. Super diffuse light. My cactus goes into shadow about 15 minutes before the sun is below the horizon, and it is usually a lot calmer than than it is right now.
