To answer your question, I must rely on a lifetime of experience from being around photographers. Over the years, I don't think that I have ever known a photographer who was at ease IN FRONT OF A LIVE CAMERA. Most, if not all, that I have known much prefer being behind, alongside, anywhere but in front of the camera. Maybe HCB was like all the rest. He was uncomfortable in front of a camera.
