..does it interfere with the strap lug where the viewfinder overhangs the top of the body?

Even if it doesn't interfere exactly with the lug, it would provide a very odd pathway for the strap to take as it has to go around the finder. Also, it's super dim and I hated the ergonomics of the eyepiece offset from the center of the camera. I had one of the fancy metering ones and even with its super accurate spot metering, I found it largely unusable.

It does overhang the left lug, so it's not ideal. Don't have a strap yet, but there's room for the lug to be used, it's just going to force the strap to take a detour.

Personally, mine (also a CdS) is a little dimmer than the WLF, but is still usable even in moderate light. As for the ergonomics, use your left eye.

I find it useful for higher angle shots where I'd need to stand sideways and hold the camera horizontal, or climb on a ladder behind the tripod to be able to see through the viewfinder.

If I need that, I prefer the prism which in addition to looking like a cute little pope's hat is about a stop brighter than the porro finder and more compact to boot.

The Porrofinders are all mirrors, unlike the Prism finder which is a solid pentaprism. When you trace the light path needed for a right-way up/round image, you see why it is asymmetric and overhangs the body side. It is lighter - lots of air, not glass - but the light path makes the image dimmer.
