doing 4x5 inversion with the jobo tank uses so much chemistry but this little 3d printed spinner and an immersion circulator gets me almost all the way there!

I use 3005 and 3006 Expert Drums on an Unicolor motor base. The noise of the motor can drive one mad after awhile, and I have to be careful about the drum walking off the motor base, but still better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. And it does a consistently good job with 4x5, 5x7, and 8x10 B&W. I pour in fresh chemicals while the drum is turning (flat horizontial position), so I want that end to be away from any electronics for when I get messy.

But I love your Design-it-yourself spinner. I am about to load up a couple SS tanks, each with two 120 rolls on SS reels. From a recent trip to Scotland. Agitating those puppies by hand will build up some muscles!

Yeah. I'd suggest putting it level to prevent problems with uneven development and minimize the required volume of chemistry.

Really neat solutions; isn't it marvelous what has come within reach with stuff like 3D printers and easily available electronics stuff!

I just had a quick look on line at the" 3005 Expert Drum".
Would a large O Ring at each end of the drum keep it on the rollers any better?
There does not seem to be much of a lip or flange at either end of the drum.

Thanks...I'll buy a bunch of broccoli one of these days. There are 'lips' on each end of the 3005; the cap, and a ridge/seam at the other end. But both are too close to the ends and if the drum walked out to either one, it would topple due to being off-balanced. I keep a plastic gallon jug of water in front of the 3005 to keep it from walking off.

The short little 3006 is less likely to travel off the rollers.

I never had enough cash lying around to need to do that. Its a tough life for you, but someone must live it.
