There is no more Polaroid, it's gone and it's never coming back. They're going to brand baby monitors with the Polaroid name. What does that mean? Nothing, absolutely nothing.
wasn't sure where to put it. Thought it was interesting that someone who understood Polaroid's importance in the photographic community and was willing to pony up more $, lost out to corporate branders. If this needs to be moved to doom and gloom instead, mods, please feel free to move to the appropriate forum.
I was listening to an interview on NPR about this. At first, I was enthused, but as the interview went on, my enthusiasm waned. The articles reference to taking advantage of "new printing technology" involve installing a dig. print function within the camera itself.
That integrated printer is already on the market. I did not expect any investor into the Polaroid assets to revive instant film. But there were some statements that could be read that one would cling to photography or at least innovation. This seems less likely now.
