I prefer posts. I had a 35mm Summicron years ago that the c shape thingy broke off. Someone before me put a post in it's place. Perfect. Some Voigtlander lenses have posts too I think. Otherwise, I guess I don't care. I don't like the Leica C shaped thingy though. Always annoyed me. Zeiss bumps are better. Posts are the best.

It occurs to me that the shutter speed controls on Olympus OM bodies have similar features.

Despite how much I like the Nikkormat FT series, I wonder if I'll ever get used to that shutter speed selection "arm": my fingers just can't find it quickly, so usually I need to look for it.

Focus tab is good for setting distance without having to look at the lens. Very useful for hip or fast candid shots. You memorize what distance = position of the tab.

Any focus tab is better than no focus tab. IMO. With any focus tab you know without looking at camera, lens which focus distance it is set.
If you are photographing streets, it doesn't matter. If you photograph on the street, it makes the difference. But you have to know how to use it and you have to practice how to use it.

For example, this lens has little use as is for street photography. But with this:

:it is next to Summarit-M 35 2.5 in focus handling. Well, IMO, Summarit-M 35 modern tab is the best. It is in combination of short, smoth and light focus throw. And light aperture clicks.

Again, for those who could only use lens for street photography @f8 and it is 21mm lens it is next to irrelevant.

I changed lubrication to light one and with focus tab it is as smooth as Leica 50 mm lenses.

Another lens, same method.

Another style of focus tab:

Leica M3 DS ELC C seal, Summicron 50 ELC.
