Polaroids TimeZero [SX-70] issues

As you may know Polaroid have shot themselves in the foot recently.

"due to a change in manufacturing process, current supplies of Time-Zero film no longer have the ability to be "manipulated" for Creative purposes."

Does anyone know what techniques are now not possible with the new stock?

i got burned on it, couldn't manipulate anything really so just took some family snapshots instead..

there is a discussion about this issue in another thread here at APUG,

at this time they are working on getting this resolved.
Basically the only technique this film is used for is manipulation.

try heating it up in an oven for a bit. 350 degrees. we did get it to move .

ALso, Kathleen Carr recommends putting a piece of arcylic on a heating pad .

She is also testing new batchs of the film as they try to correct the problem.

Ann has been doing a good job of keeping us up-to-date on this issue. Looks like Polaroid is working to resolve it.

i just got so excited about rescuing an sx-70

I had been threatening to get an sx-70 for a while. When it came out about the issues with the film, I hurried and purchased 15 boxes (the last of the stock of good stuff) from my local camera store. I have since sold 5 boxes to Alex, and still have 10. I have talked myself out of the camera. I will just admire what Alax and Sharon do. SO I have 10 boxes left with the exp. of Dec. 2005 that are good for any who would like to buy them for what I paid for them and shipping costs.

Hang onto the film. If I don't find a used SX70 at a show this weekend, I'll take them.

email from Kathleen Carr, who has been in contact with Polaroid. She says:

I just got word from Polaroid that the temporary glitch with the Time
Zero film has been corrected. There is a limited amount available now
directly from Polaroid at 800-225-1618 or from the Polaroid
website--Polaroid Express. It will take a little while for more
batches to be made, and the new film to reach other outlets.​
