Polaroid spectra 1200 expired in 2009 and 600 expired in 2008

While i have been away from the darkroom i shoot plenty of instax, now i m moving to a place where i can hopefully setup my darkroom again!

I recently aquired on the cheap room temperature stored polaroid 600 expired in 2008 and refrigerated polaroid spectra 1200 expired in 2009,

what are the chances it will be 'good'? i am looking for something with a reasonable probability it would develop properly, i find the impossible stuff too unstable so prefer the instax for instant shooting, and cant wait to be back in a position to to B/W and colour again, i nicely kept all my chemicals and paper ready for use.


What are the chances it will still be good? i cannot find much on the internet that gives a definite answer, knowing full well to avoid frozen integral film and film with a bad storage history, but i was interested in shooting a traditional polaroid square ones, as well. Also a camera i picked up for next to nothing has a sealed one expired in 2008 - unknown storage

Any guidelines? i can find very little and given the prices they are worth on ebay i might consider reselling them instead.

I'd be willing to bet the refrigerated one is perfectly fine. It might have a slight haze to it. The unknown storage one may be a different story. Sadly, the chemicals in the little pocket in the film tend to dry up even in a sealed package. You might have good luck. But, I've had "unknown storage" packs with expiration dates in the mid 2000s (04-07) and none of them have even worked. Actual cold stored ones have been fine though. Mine have come out looking over exposed, although I doubt thats actually whats happened.

You should be OK with all of them, any of the packs I have come across that are post 2005/06 have been OK for use.

The newest iteration of the Impossible B&W film is a large change, not the slight modifications they had been making along the way (Silver Shade to UV, etc). It's quite a good film and has changed my mind about using it again. I bought a lot of the UV+ at a good price and so used it, but hadn't picked up any more due to the various issues that film has. I'll be buying more of the 2.0 and am excited to be able to use my SX70 again knowing what the results will look like.

I have both 1200, 600, and SX-70 that expired around 2005-2007 which I've kept refrigerated. The older 1200 is worst of all: washed out muted colors everywhere. The others are somewhat better, but have nowhere near the brilliance they did even two years ago. I'm amazed the batteries still have enough power.

Once I use it all up, I'll start buying the Impossible film.
