Dear All,

We have received many, many e.mails from photo enthusiasts the world over regarding the possibility of our manufacturing monochrome POLAROID product. We have no idea whether this will be possible or practical, what I can tell you is that our Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Philip Harris has written to the CEO of POLAROID with the intention of discussing the possibility, should anything develop from this contact I will let you know.

Perhaps Dr. Harris should also contact the CEO of Fuji to determine what challenges they went through already with the manufacture of instant film. Best of luck to Harman!

(my mantra: "type 52, type 52...")

Thanks for the update. It's a long shot, I know, but let's get that production line equipment loaded up on a stout ship manned by brave men and set sail from Boston Harbor to Liverpool in the British Isles!

Is this the Harman International Corp (NYSE symbol HAR) or some other corporation? Please advise. Thanks for your help.

You might want to pick a different port - if you land it at Liverpool the gear'll be nicked before it reaches Harman

Simon -

Just wanted to say thanks to you and your company for listening to the film photographers on this forum. Not many companies would even bother to respond to our requests, and we greatly appreciate it.

I'm crossing my fingers. Polaroid was making a profit on these films--it's just that selling the property was even more appealing to them. If Ilford can make a reasonable profit too, and Polaroid is reasonable about negotiating a license fee, it sounds as if the major hassle would be transferring the equipment and getting production started in England. If Ilford is flexible enough to continue the Kentmere products, maybe Ilford can do this too.

So, is this a hint to stop emailing Ilford about this now?

Seriously, it's a shame Polaroid wants to sell/demolish the buildings themselves and not lease out the buildings and equipment - that way Ilford, Fuji, or whoever could run production without have to move the large, heavy equipment anywhere...

The land and equipment as scrap is probably more valuable than the operating plant, buildings and revenue from product.
