I have recently bought a Polaroid Now camera and accidentally removed the film shield and my photos come out super overexposed, I'm not sure if it because of the lack of the film shield or damaged film (I think i might have damaged or exposes the film in the process).
I have two questions for you guys:
1. Is it possible to put back the film shield in the Polaroid Now? If it is, how? It looks there is no easy way and I can't find any information online
2. Is it possible that my photos are bad because there is no film shield? I heard people sometimes take it off and still get good photos. I also tried to take a picture and put it straight away in a dark environment but still no luck
I put Polaroids in my pocket after I take them, then set them face down on the dark slide in a dark place for a while. The picture you have looks off. I am not sure it is over exposed. May be a bad pack of film. Typically the overexposures I have gotten are mostly just white. The bleed of colors makes me thing the chemicals didn't spread correctly as the film came out. Check the rollers where the film comes out and make sure they are clean and unobstructed. Polaroid sells new film shields. I do not know if that will work for the Polaroid now. I am not familiar with that camera only the older ones. It is also good to wipe down the rollers where they film comes out and check them each time you load new film.
According to Polaroid, the current generation films no longer need the extended "frog tongue" as they're light safe with the original slot cover. If you have film more than a couple years old, that may be the problem in itself, independent of any film shield issues.
