Polaroid film phase-out timetable

They project that 809 will be unavailable in the third quarter of '08, but it seems to be pretty much unavailable now.

It's not just 809 that seems to be unavailable prior to the date in the timetable! Their disclaimer seems to be accurate - deman is affecting the availability dates:

"Projected Availability subject to change depending upon demand. Date of Expiration is based on the last date of manufacturing which varies by product. As the Projected Availability Date approaches, the closer we are to the Date of Expiration."

I just called Freestyle and they have 2 boxes of Polaroid 667 for internet sale and 2 boxes at their brick and mortar store. I placed a hold on the 2 boxes the have at their store to pick up tomorrow.

I'm hoping to snag at least 5 boxes for an upcoming project.

If anyone is interested we have a pile (at least 6 boxes) of 667 in the fridge at the drug store I work at. I am unsure of cost or the expiration date (it's been there untouched at least since I've begun working there in September) but if anyone is interested PM me and I can find out the details, acting as liaison for a purchase. That or horde it in my own freezer for later ebay sale... but that would be wrong

Yes, Justin, that would be wrong. But not for ethical reasons, for practical reasons. Polaroid products can not be frozen.

Uh, I think you are wrong about POLAROID being in "death throws" in regards the company. It is just their instant film products that are being discontinued. The obviously feel that their BRAND licensing, and marketing of mass market digital consumer TV's and other stuff is more profitable. The are NOT going out of business as a Brand Name.
