Hi All.

I just picked up what I believe to be a Polaroid CU-5. I have a couple questions.

1.What is the focusing distance for this camera?
2. is it any good?
3. Should I hack it and if so any ideas on where to start?

It does have a nice Rodenstock lens on it.

a rodenstock lens is quite unusual, normally they have tominon lenses. it's made for (very) close-up photography. the easiest way to focus is via the use of close-up frames which attach to the front. you can change the ratio by adding one or more multipliers and then the according frame.

you can easily make a pinhole camera from the body and the rodenstock lens could be used to hack an automatic pack 100 camera. there is a recent thread about this on this forum.

Thanks for the information. I looked at the thread you mentioned and I might give that a shot. I have a Polaroid 210 laying around somewhere that I could use.

After i posted last night I kept googling and I was able to find some CU-5's that were close to what I have in appearance but nothing that matched the lens and one thing that puzzles me is I can see where a ring flash should be but the "housing" is empty. Or so it looked.

I will post some pictures tonight.

Also, thanks for the welcome.

Sorry it has taken me so long to upload pictures but I forgot my card reader at work on Friday.

I took some Quick pictures and it seems that the focus is about 5 feet. Does that seem right? I thought it should be around 5 Inches.

One other thing I found is the shutter speed is way way off.

Lens:
The Lens is a Rodenstock Ysaron 127mm 1:4.7
The number on the left had side of the 1st picture is 6106656
I'm assuming (probably shouldn't do that) that the piece that rotates in front of the lens is a color correction filter. Yes No Maybe?

Where the ring flash should be is empty. It's hard to see.

It sucks that Fuji 3000B is discontinued.
