Polaroid Back For RZ67 Pro?

Which Polaroid back is the right one to work on a RZ67 Pro and currently available polaroid film? It seems there are different Polaroid backs that say they will work on an RZ, but I want to be sure before I buy one. Thanks in advance.

I have a RB67 but the backs are similar. I got some Fuji FP-100C film for mine.

Probably you want the back for 3 1/4 x 4 1/4" (8.5 x 10.8 cm) polaroid/fujiroid pack film. I have this back and alas it has no model number on it, but you can probably look it up at keh. The main distinguishing characteristic of this back, compared to the analogous rb one, is that it has a circle surrounding the square image frame, and this circle cuts (very annoyingly!) into the image a little bit on all four corners. The rz back can also be recognized by three metal contacts and an ISO knob, whereas my rb one does not. Oh and the rz one says rz on it

On the rb, I sometimes shoot 4x5 polaroid instant sheets. You can get a 545i back and do that on the rz as well, but... unless you have a stash of 4x5 polaroid or want to shoot some quickload squares, it's probably not worth it.

Thank you, but the RZ backs are different from the RB and thats what I'm having trouble with. I'm trying to learn what the compatible Polaroid back model is that will work with my camera and currently available film.

Well, I was just telling you how to tell the rb and rz backs apart, visually. You might find model numbers at mamiya usa, but I am saying that I don't see the model #s on the backs themselves, so whoever is selling them probably won't know what those numbers are. Check at KEH, they do a good job of sorting them properly. Anyway the back you want is for 3 1/4" pack film. And that film is currently available and very nice. Try fuji fp100b and fp100c in particular. You can do lovely emulsion lifts with the fp100c.

fp100b is 100 ISO black and white and fp100c is 100 ISO color BTW. Both seem to be currently available, the B&W is a bit cheaper.

Thanks. I'm sorry my original reply was to another member about the differences of the RB&RZ, and I forgot to reply with quote. Anyway, thanks for this info on the currently available film. I looked at KEH but one they call the model 3 or something and it ony shows a picture of one side. But another one they have shows the other side of it with the round section you mentioned. Which is like all the RZ backs. Thanks again.

I can't see it on my mobile, but is there an analogous one for the RB. I don't have the RZ, but I sure would like to use the Fuji pack film on my RB.

Yes, I have the Polaroid Land back for my RB67, it takes the Fuji instant FP100C and FP100B films.

Or get a used one. Check the compatibility chart for older ones, I have the Pro S

And, to all, on this subject of Polaroid backs, remember that the Polaroid backs that have a large toggle lever on the back, (facing the photographer when installed), these backs are the ones labeled 545 or 545i, are [absolutely and totally] useless for instant photography today.

Also, I don't have any kind words for those individuals selling 545/545i backs today, without first informing others to the uselessness of these backs. And no, I have not bought one of these backs, however I do keep a list of those individuals that sell these backs. It is becoming a fairly long list. It's my, "Crooks!...Do Not Buy From!" list.

Fuji doesn't make instant film for these backs, and the Impossible Project doesn't seem to be considering making any instant film for these backs.

The Polaroid backs for use with three (3) of Fuji's instant pack films, "FP100b" (B&W 100 ASA), "FP100c" (Color 100ASA), and "FP3000b" (B&W 3200ASA)
are called a "405" Back. These films are 3.25 X 4.25 inches in size, 10 sheets per pack.

Unfortunatly for me I have managed to collect half a dozen 545s over the years.

Has anyone figurerd out a good use for them?

Well, if you have any quickloads, you can use the 545 backs for that. I once had thoughts of preparing my own quickloads by recycling some of the sleeves.

I did see some references to a project attempting to recreate a P/N peel apart. Not type 55 per se, but similar.

I think Bob Carrie is involved. But I don't know the status of that.

In My Opinion, the Mamiya Pro II Fuiroid back is the best, read why.

The best Polaroid, ( now Fujiroid ), back for the
Mamiya RZ is the Pro II back.

Here's why;

The Pro II back has both black Horizontal & Vertical
6 x 7 Cropping Slides available, as well as a place to
store the normal shiny dark slide.

The Fujiroid back does not rotate & thus will always
shoot a 7 x 7 image. The cropping slides make it
easier to match the cropping of the Fujiroid to the
film image.

I always thought that these were brilliant, except
that while Mamiya, goes out of it's way to provide
a locking back cover to keep their film backs clean,
they never made one for the then Polaroid back.

I finally had to make one myself.

A zip-lock baggie works great to keep things like Polaroid/Fuji instant film backs clean.
I reused/recycled some black, anti static electronic equipment sleeves for this purpose.
Adds a little extra light-tight insurance as well.
