"HARMAN technology Limited have entered into discussions that are currently on-going with POLAROID regarding the potential manufacture of POLAROID monochrome products. It is unlikely that further news will be forthcoming before the end of March.

When, and if, both companies have something more concrete to announce a press release from both organisations will be issued. We would to acknowledge
and thank all those who have contacted HARMAN technology LImited, either personally or via the save POLAROID campaign".

Thanks for continuing to work on this one Simon.

If and when there is anything positive to report I woudl have thought you could get some excellent press coverage on this - which could be very valuable putting Ilford back in the minds of the general public.

There was an announcement on the News at Ten recently when Polaroid made its discontinuance announcement - it would make a great follow up story if a British manufacturer stepped in.......

Thanks for keeping us up to date and for seriously looking into this, Simon, Howard and all others involved at HARMAN and -I assume- Polaroid.

When I saw the thread title I thought, "Oh no, it will be an announcement that Ilford looked into it & decided it wasn't a goer". So this news is a pleasant surprise. Bravo to Ilford for looking into this. I'm also heartened to see that it only covers B&W materials. I'm dreaming of a fresh supply of 665.

Great news indeed!
Even if it doesn't happen, at least we know that Ilford tried seriously.

If Ilford/HARMAN does this, I will personally commit myself to buying Type55 (as well as some of the other B&W instant films) as my main LF film till the day I die (and then instruct my kids in my will to do the same ;-)). It means that much. Brilliant news and I seriously hope and dream of a postive outcome. THANKYOU Simon and Ilford/HARMAN. K

If this doesn't cement the notion that Harmon/Ilford is firmly committed to film, then nothing will. Thank you Ilford and Simon!

This is very encouraging. If the discussions are ongoing, obviously both parties feel like this is potentially viable. I'm sure there are still some big hurdles, but I'm starting to think this could really happen.

No news is better than bad news, but this anouncement sounds really good. Thanks to Ilford for the effort in investigating.
If Ilford ever decides to takeover production, I'm a taker for type 59

There are several firms holding faith and continuing to supply materials for the type of photography we are intrested in and Ilford/Harmon is one of them.

That would be great news. I wonder if Ilford would consider releasing the film part of type 55 as a stand alone film. Isn't it supposed to be pan-X?

No color products? That's a pity. It was the only reason for me to buy instant film.

I only use Polaroid 600 film; yes, a colour product, but I would certainly still buy it if it would change to 600 B&W.
