Hello All
I have decided to use the unusible Polaroid 800 and to try to convert it to 4X5, camera that can use standard 6X7 6X9 back that I have, now I working on the front of the camera , and chenging the lens, there is a lot of problems and it is hard to do things without proper tools, so uploading some photos from the begging, just the front element, I have some old lenses , it looks good!

Im very interested in your project. I have a Polaroid 800 that I am interested in maybe doing the same with. How do you plan on converting it? Complete mod as in cutting up the camera or do you plan to keep it as whole as possible?

Whats wrong with the original lens? It isn't hard to remove, should be able to unscrew the retaining ring at the rear of the lens inside the camera. Finding a replacement lens that diameter might be difficult, maybe not. If its a 127mm, its good for 4x5 plus some movements(view camera), slightly wide field and sharp. You just need to gut the insides of the body, and affix a 4x5 back or some other means of retaining a 4x5 film holder, and you are shooting.

This gentleman does a lot of conversions. You may take a look at his website, which actually gives a run down on what you have to do.
http://www.instantoptions.com/conversions/
Click on one of the 110's and look through the many pages he has there. 110, 800, they couldn't be that different.

HTH

I've seen this guy's conversions and I was just about to ask about him but looking at his site it appears that he only does Polaroid pack film conversions. Im wondering if anyone has successfully completed a conversion that would allow using this camera with non-instant film.

There's a guy in Australia who will do it for $750. Use Google and see what others have done. A friend just passed one on to me and I don't have the ambityion to do anything with it, so it's available, for shipping costs.

What exactly did your friend give you? And how much would you be asking for it? Only shipping!? I'd love to get my hands on a Polaroid 4x5 conversion for some of my current projects. Let me know!
