Polaroid 664 & 667

Specifically -

Has anyone figured out a way to use (any) 664 or 667 film packs without using a polaroid camera?

I'd be particularly interested in 667 "hacks" as I just "inherited" 7 boxes of the stuff... I also have one box of 664 .. just for variety..

I'd really like to hear if anyone has figured out how to use those with their 4x5 neg holders, made holders that work with the "graflock" back, or used them in pinhole cameras... the obvious next question - how to process...

I've made pack camreas onto pinholers, but never processed pack film outside of a polaroid back or camera. Polaroid made lots of backs that use 667/4 format film, that attach to Hassys and the like. You might be able to make use of one of those. Seems like you could just process them with metal rollers on a hard surface, but you'd have to do it in the dark- there's only a darkslide for the first sheet. Any reason not touse an old folder or hack it into what you want? They cost next to nothing at thrift stores...

OK.. so I take it that these pack boxes (I havent opened up any cause I dont know what to expect and dont want to toss the whole box on account of ignorance) still have the development packs for each individual sheet.. Right? .. .

I have no problem with trying something like a metal pin roller in the dark or stuffing it thru my polaroid holder.. if it would work...

It's sounding like I'll have to open up one box and check out how it's all put together... hugh.

Noah, you mentioned you have a monorail. I will assume you have a 4x5 or larger camera then. What you need is the polaroid 405 back for the 6XX series of pack films.

Trust me, once you've used a Polaroid folder with a plastic lens, you'll chuck that 4*5 in the trash. I'm feeling generous, so I will trade you one of the fine folders moldering in my basement for that clunky 4*5 excuse for a camera...PM me your address and I'll drop it in the mail tomorrow

The film pack comes loaded with a sort of daisychain of film...each one is connected to the next by a paper tab and a drop of glue. Each acts as a darkslide for the following frame, with a cardboard insert protacting the first one. The chemistry is in a small chamber that is broken when it passes through the rollers, just like with the larger formats. It's a little hard to explain, but you'll understand it completely once you get it loaded into a folder or 405 back...

Are these old like your sheet film from the other post? If so, they may be dried up as well. I have no idea if there is any method to develop them if so, since they are both standard positive film, not the pos/neg like type 55. I got some old 667 and it just came apart when I pulled it through the rollers. Not a one worked. By the way, these work with old 100 and 200 series Polaroid cameras so if you can get one of those to use you can check the film without having to pop for a 405 holder for your 4X5.

Paul - I'll just have to find out... I guess I'll give it a whirl with one I pull out in the DR. If it's a go, I'll have to figure out whether I can shove it thru my current Polaroid holder, or whether I will have to devise some way of spreading the dev...

Check ebay, etc. You should be able to get a pack film back for aprox $40.00 in nice condition that fits 4x5 cameras. I have one, and the film I have is 665 print & neg.

just call Polaroid customer service, they are always helpful. They have a technical group as well. Check out their website for the number or even perhapes find the answer to your question.
