I have a couple of old packs of Polaroid 55 and 59 which have both prints and negatives but no coater, I have a new pack of 55 and wondering if the coater can be used on the 59 as well.
Alex and Jason... you're right... no coating for T-59. I just checked the data sheet at the Polaroid web site. I haven't used it in a while and was kinda' scratching my head about it... just too busy tonight to check until you guys mentioned it. Oh, how soon we forget.
No matter what, I'm 99% certain that the coaters are "universal". No coater ever indicates what film it came with, or is intended to be applied upon.
Isn't the coater just a very fast drying lacquer? It sure does smell. AFAIK the sole purpose of the coater is to seal the surface of the image to prevent deterioration due to abrasion and reaction with air. Couldn't one just spray the polaroid print with the spray lacquer used to spray conventional photo prints? That stuff that is available in the aerosol cans from companies such as Marshall?
