Hey folks--I had some of my prints up in the classifieds for a while to help fund a trip across the US. Thought I'd share some of the images I made over the last month or so on the road. This first batch is from Baltimore.

These are from Washington DC

I like your work as well. Would love to see more.

Nicely done, Jojo.

Excuse me jojoman2

I do agree with the rest, thank you for sharing, and for giving the film so much use an a certain and particular elegance. Cameras/s?, Films? Lens/es? To my personal way of thinking (and seeing) three photographs (one in each set of cities) stand notably above the rest.

Thanks for all the kind words all

I shot around 40 rolls of portra 800 (although I wish I had shot 400 instead) and maybe 15-20 tri-x 35mm and probably another 20 rolls in 120. In Baltimore I used a wide angle rolleiflex, but everywhere else I used a Leica mp with 28 Summicron. I shot some medium format color but didn't get anything really with the Rollei outside of Baltimore despite my efforts.

Thank you for this sentiment--my main goal going into this trip was to get one photo from each city that had that sort of standout quality.

Thanks for the reply, amazing!

Your Baltimore shots are fantastic, both technically and emotionally.

Thanks! Yeah my experience in Baltimore was very special, and I'm glad I shot the rolleiflex and not the leica there because it made me interact with people more.

I've been shooting a lot of off camera flash since moving back to New York and checking out Mark Cohen's work

. Thought I'd share those as well.

I also liked the Baltimore series, you managed to tell a story. The pictures in the series work together, they are not just snapshots. Well done.

Nice work. I like the entire submissions. The off camera flash stuff display a certain style and stays on track. Not erratic. if you have time, please post more.

Very nice work. The Baltimore series in particular strikes me as being in a class by itself.

When I was around 5 years old, we lived near Baltimore. I remember two things very clearly:
  1. In the days before television was common on the weekends and evenings for families would sit on the marble steps, called "stoops", and talk to everyone else on the street. There was a sense of community.
  2. Every Saturday morning early the women would be at the stoops with scrub brushes and buckets scrubbing them clean. Pride was taken in having ones stoop very white and shiny.
It was a different world then.

Same age, I remember that too. Same world, however. The "community" is the same in different ways.
