Pocket

Hey all,

I've been looking at new (to me) 35mm SLRs and they all seem to have this little pocket on the back door...what is it used for? My EM has one as well. What do you put in there?

Typically it's used to hold the end off the film box to tell you what film is loaded.

I regularly carried two 35mm bodies. One either had slower B&W and the other faster, or one had B&W and the other color. I helped knowing which was which when reaching into the camera bag.

It is also useful if you have trouble remembering how long a roll (24, 36 or ? exposures) you have loaded.

...or if you have too many cameras, all loaded with different films you want to try out, and that you don't neccessarily have a chance to shoot all the way through 24 or 36 at a time, and become easily confused...

Not that I'd know anything about that.

I use 1/2 inch painters tape and wright down all the film info.Just a small bit of tape to record film type,length, iso and attach it to the camera back, bottom,or case (It leaves no residue).When the roll is finished I then peel off the tape and attach it to the film cassette so the information is there when I develop.Found that this method prevents the "What in the name of god did I load on this roll" syndrome.
Should add that I use a Sharpie pen to record the information.
