Pocket Flash Recommendations?

Hi all— I recently picked up a Fuji X-Pro 1 at a good price. Been a fun camera so far, but I’m missing having an on board flash.

Just curious if anyone had any recommendations on a small pocket flash— preferably the smaller the better. I’m not necessarily looking for anything new, and I’m frankly curious about older flashes on this body since it supports them.

The form factor of the Contax TLA 140 or the Minolta Auto CLE is kind of what I’m looking for— from past experience I just know that I don’t like carrying around a big flash.

Any ideas? Thanks!

I assume your camera has a typical "bare-bones" hot shoe -- or can support it. If that's all you need there are tons to choose from. But the smaller they get , the less power they have. There are tiny flashes that use ONE AA battery, small ones that use TWO -- and have twice the power -- and then FOUR AA batteries, but these are the big ones.

The smaller flashes also tend to have fewer features -- non-auto-exposure, no bounce, etc.

So how tiny/weak do you want to go???? What GUIDE NUMBER meets your needs --10, 14, 20, 28 ..................?????????

I tried a few small generic flashes, and like the Metz 34 CS-2 most. It is similar in size as Contax TLA 140, and of high quality. It has good flash power for its size, 3 auto modes and 1 manual mode. I use mine on almost all compact cameras.

The only downside is that it uses less common CR2 batteries, instead of AA/AAA batteries. But CR2 is still easily available from grocery stores or online.
