PMK and laser thermometer

I normally user a glass thermometer to measure temps. But one was not handy, but my laser thermometer was. A new batch of PMK and want all the values for the notebook. After taking the temp of the PMK I noticed cloudy trail right where the laser pointer went see attachment. The red dot on the bottom is just the way I tell my beakers apart.

More of a what-the-heck moment then a question. Looks like the PMK tried to develop the excited, and coherent beam.

Wonder if this could be a way to check developer activity?

I think it's probably the other way around. The beam was oxidizing the developer.

I would certainly suspect that the laser beam caused some of the developing agents to decompose. I know from personal experience that UV light from a spectrophotometer will cause a phenidone solution to decompose leaving a cloudy trail. However the amout of decomposition s probsably small and would not effect the developer activity.
