Did a Google search to see if there was any film news, all I could find was a new version of Kodak Gold.

Personally I'm not too bothered I never use non pro or enthusiast aimed Colour neg films with the exception of Superia (think I am not alone there?). And I have a particular dislike of Kodal gold, after I saw it used in a review of the F6 in AP and it made the camera look awful because of the films general crappyness! In fact I had a TV show about photography, I would regually blow up mounds of Kodak Gold in the same way Top Gear is always blowing up caravans! Maybe they have made it good now!

Personally I like Gold 100 and find it a great film other then it being grainy. I was very suprised to see Kodak updating a consumer film, especially in the 100-200 range. They claim the new films have brighter colors. I can't see how they could make Gold 100 any more saturated then it already is. And why is another question. The new PGI for Gold 100 is 42 which is down from 45. Not much of a difference, especially since 400UC and 160VC-2 (similar color saturation) both have finer grain then GA100. Though I liked the color of the current GA100, it is about time they revised them. Last revision for Gold 100 was version 6 out in around 1999- 8 years ago. But didn't Kodak say they weren't going to improve their consumer films anymore?

Gold 100s strong points are its true colors with good saturation and its sharpness. Grain is decent as long as prints dont get too big. Bringing it down to PGI 42 makes it similar in grain to the new current Portra 400VC film. I would suspect GA 100 is sharper. I would not go as far as to say its like an 800 film. I dont think any 800 film is less grainy then PGI 42 (or even the old PGI 45).
