Does anyone have a suggested starting point for dev time for PX in Rodinal 1+50? I'm seeing times from 8min to 13min. I think 13min may be for the old PXP...? Anyway, just looking for a jumping off point. Feel free to note EI, agitation and temp too. Thanks.

Try 25 minutes at 1+50 giving 5s initial agitation, then 5s every five minutes This is assuming you are using a diffusion head enlarger and 68F/20c temperature.

Good Luck!

Twenty five minutes! Holy cow, the film will be cooked after that much time at 1+50. Assuming an EI of 125, start with about 13 minutes @68F. Agitation at 10 seconds each minute should get you close. There are no hard and fast numbers.

I went with 9min at 70 degrees (coolest my tap gets right now). 30sec initial agitation and then two soft inversions each minute.

Negs look good, if a bit thin. The light was hard, so it worked out, shadows are pretty blank though.

In the future I think I'll give a bit more exposure (EI80) and go up to 10 or 11 minutes.

Appreciate the help!

(Oh, and 25min sounds fine w/ reduced agitation like that, but I've had problems with surge/uneven development in the past using that technique. I guess my agitation technique leaves something to be desired...)

Rodinal seems to work well for reduced agitation techniques in my experience, and I have never had any of the streaking/ surge problems talked about (I think streaking may well be caused by being too vigourous with the agitation cycle).

YMMV

I've used Plus-X with Rodinal 1:100 as semi-stand for an hour, and got nice results, better than any before.

Then I tried with HC-110 1:50 from syrup, and it looked creamy smooth, more like a fine grained Tri-X. Time was 10min.

In my limited experience with Rodinal (& APX 100) it doesn't seem to give full speed. I ended up giving one stop extra for Rodinal development. Does this match with others experiences?
