Plugging in a Focomat

Right, umm, I'm buying a Splitgrade controller this week. One thing though, I don't understand how to plug the Focomat into the mains supply. There are two wires coming off it, one which comes from the Splitgrade Module and no doubt goes into controller and a black one which comes out of the bottom of the column. I know the black one supplies the juice, thing is it doesn't have a British 3-pin plug on it. Do i have to attach a plug myself somehow or does this wire also feed into the enlarging timer? I'm guessing it doesn't though right? EH?!

It is hard to say. Which Focomat? I am guessing that iy is newly aquired used gear. Do you know if it was first used in the UK? I do not know enough about all the variations and models to answer your question. It is possible others could help you if you gave more information.

I bought a brand new Focomat V35 during the 70's,milllenium last. Included in my purchase were the the voltage stabilizer and timer as provided by Leitz for use in the USA..meant to clarify the response. I, for the life of me, can remenber nothing special about plugging it into the wall or the plugs involved. It may be that there were non-household plugs from the V35 to the other items, but??. My Leitz recollection says that It seemed to be a standard daisy chain suitable for a dark room. I do not remember the requirement that one buy the stabiliser or timer to make things work

I would suggest that you use the phone book, find the number and contact the Leitz distributor in the UK. I will bet you a farthing , and give 100:1 odds, that they can tell you.

AH it's ok, you keep onto it. The kind people at RH Designs explained to me that both wires dissapear into the Splitgrade Controller which then plugs into the wall. YAY! I've just ordered my Splitgrade from RH today. I'm beginning to wonder if i could've got a better deal going straight through Heiland Electronic though. Hmmm.
