Hello everyone.
I just completely redid my website.
Any feedback as to how it functions etc. would be more than aprreciated.
Best Regards

where is the link?/address?

I googled you to find your website. Should you link it here to make it easier.
I enjoyed your work.
I do like thumbnails though so that I can pick an image to look at as opposed to waiting for your slideshow to run through.
Regards
Bill

Maybe its this one

My first comment is it doesn't fit a modern screen well, it seems to be optimised for 800x600 while the vast majority of modern screen are running at far higher resolutions.

APUG itself is a superb example of how a site works well at many resolutions, from 800x600 upwards, 1024x800 and even 1280x800, I think this is particularly important where material is visual, like photographs.

Thanks Ian
Interesting comment. I didn't think about that at all.
I'm using rapid weaver to make this (I'm not a webpage designer by a long mile) and it seems that the only way I can up the pixels is the width (I can choose either 700 or 1000 pixels). I just did that... how does it work now?
I'm also interested in knowing what you guys think of thumbnails versus slide shows.
Best Regards
Mads

Very nice images. I would agree with Ian, above.

I would also like control over the slide show, so I could pause, and study a particular image, or thumbnails.

The navigation has me clicking through several iterations to get to the images. I think that if that part was streamlined or prettied up, it would improve the experience.

Also, I like the colors and layout of the interface.

Very much better.

Have a look at the script Sean uses for the Portfolio section, Lightbox, it's free, and relatively easy to use. It works really nicely.

hi mads

i liked the images but found it difficult
to figure out how to actually see them.
i didn't mind the size or the slide show,
but clicking through the different side bars
was kind of awkward.

thanks for the link!

john

ps. i found it through your apug profile / clicking on your avatar ...

Ok I'll it at those pixels.
Jbrunner thanks for your input. I'll see about the controls.
Regarding the navigation, again my problem is I'm working with rapid weaver where you're stuck with the way the design is made. You can chance whatever you want to, given you know how to do html coding.
I Don't know how to do html coding!
I'll see if I can find a way around it.
Thanks again
Mads

Hello John
Ok I'll definately change the way to get to the pictures!
I'll start right away.
Best Regards
Mads

Hi Mads

I missed your head.
If I would a customer I would also like to find a picture of your face!

To get to the pictures is a bit to tricky as already stated, Armin

Ok...
So I changed the the amount of links you have to go through to see the pictures. Now you press "pictures" and can then choose what category to see. The problem are the titles of the categories. Are they confusing?
I'll see about manual control for the slide show right away.
Best Regards
Mads

Hi john
Good idea! I'll see if I can cram in a picture of myself somewhere!.

Hi Mads

just had a look, was very slow loading for me, that may just be time of day, not sure, I also feel it takes a while to get to pics, how about having a favoured image appear on any page which currently does not have an image on it, unless of course there is a reason for not having an image

perhaps saying that the images will appear as a slideshow might be useful

otherwise, some lovely images, particularly liked the mono images in booklet

A picture on the home page would be a possibility.

Speed is fine here. The larger width is much more pleasing. Navigation is much better, but I still want a choice to study an image for longer.

I agree with the above... pull me in with a great pic on the home page... let me know right away that I've come to a photographer's website, and that he's damn good.

As it is now I think the layout is good, but when I navigate your pictures it takes too long for the first picture of each category to load. It is my opinion that many people will 'hang up' and move to the next site if they have to wait, if only for a split second.
I'm not exactly on the speediest connection either, but it's a higher end DSL so not slow either.
That's the only complaint. Other than that I really like the simple layout.

Hi Guys
I just wanted to thank everybody once again for taking the time to review my site, your comments have been very appreciated so...
Thanks!!
I just redid it again, based on the critique so far, so if it's not to much to ask, it would be wonderful if you had the time to look at it again.

I've tried to simplify things, cutting down on the categories etc. It's still "slide show" only, since I cannot get rapid weaver not to show the complete filenames when using thumbnails, or if the navigator is turned on (during slide shows) and this really annoys me, so slide shows it is.
My major concern right now is that, the current project I'm working on "family" is done in two different styles (consciously of course), and when exibited they are supposed to be shown clearly appart. In my first revision, I had split them up in "set up" and "spontaneous". Now, to cut down the categories they are intermingled in the "family" folder. My concern is that this slide show might be too messy now.
What do you think?
Thanks Again
Mads Hartmann

By the way regarding having my own picture on the site, I haven't got one I like, so I'll have to do one. When that's done I'll put it there right away.
And also I made the pictures slightly bigger, This may make the loading a little slower, but at the moment I haven't figured a way around making the loading of the pictures faster. I have to use another program I guess.
Best Regards

Hi Mads,

I find the site a little too 'minimalist' for my tastes. Sentences and paragraphs seem to have too much space between them. There also some typos and grammar mistakes that need to be corrected. Although I may sound critical, the site is a good starting point.

Hi "snapshot"
Yes I was afraid it would show that English is not my native tongue. I have a Canadian friend who's going to help me correct the typing, and grammatical errors.
Best Regards
