Hi all
I am the new owner of an old xrite 361.
I have the calibration standard from xrite.
The ortho readings are dead on but I am having trouble with the uv.
The cal reading is dead on - but the linear values are off by quite a bit.
Again - the ortho linear values are within tolerances - but not the uv.

Has anyone else seen this? Any ideas?
I have written xrite but have no responses as yet
thank you
Sean

Sean, You might try Bob Herbst or Jorge...both use that densitometer so far as I know.

What is an xrite

g'day Sean

what is an xrite?

Hi Ray - Xrite is a manufacturer of densitometers. I have recently acquired one via ebay to read my digital negatives.

How old is the lamp?

You have to calibrate the UV channel independently from the visible if I remember correctly. Don't have the manual in front of me at the moment.

I think that as the lamps get old, it becomes more difficult to get the UV calibration to work, so it may be an indication that the lamp needs to be replaced.

Or, it could be a problem in the unit... hope that isn't the case.

Michael -
As you stated - ortho and uv need to be calibrated indepently. I did this and that is what showed me it was off. So I think you may be right that it is the age of the lamp - as that would make sense for an older used unit.

I hope to hear back from xrite - but in the mean time I will check and see how hard it is to replace the lamp. thanks for tip

Xrite manuals can be downloaded from their site. Here's the xrite 361 manual. There's a section about lampreplacement too.
