I don't know what the slide in area is for. It seems to be held in place with glue strips, so I could peel it off and simply sell the new bellows, but before I do that, I'd like to know if is a specialty peice that someone may need like it is. It came with a box lot of goodies, some of which I'm keeping, but I don't need the Cambo piece. Thanks for the help. Usually I'm the guy identifying your oddball pieces. Been around this stuff a long long time, but this is new to me.

Jim,

Could it be a bracket for a front mounted Packard Shutter?

Kino, Cambo bellows go between the standards. The Horseman Optical Exposure Computer inserts in the camera's back like a sheet film holder, with the measuring surface behind the rear standard in or very near the film plane.

Yeah, I just changed my suggestion after looking over the catalog page...

Looks more Matte box related.

Anyway, I should stop speculating...

Thanks folks. Let me further ask this. The protrusion beyond the face of the bellows end is just slightly more than a 1/4". If they were designed to allow a 'mask' to be in front of the film area, does that protrusion sticking beyond the bellow face on the bellows side of the standard allow a back to even go on, or would a 1/4" sticking into the film back device area preclude it even being able to go into the standard?

Jim,

Here's some photos of the rear standard of my Calumet 45MX, which is a rebadged Cambo as you know.

I just don't see any wiggle room in there; it has to mount down into the recess and only the inner lip of the original bellows fits. This frame would certainly interfere with an unmodified standard as far as I can tell.

Thanks. Appreciate it. Whatever it is, it's coming off and I'll just offer the bellows alone. It wouldn't fit through that area. Very curious.
