Here is an opportunity for someone to get a great deal on a camera that usually costs over $2000.00. This wide angle Plaubel Makina 6x7 camera with the legendary Nikkor 55mm f4.5 lens is in great condition. "The 55mm Nikkor lens was considered one of the sharpest and most flare free of any produced during the analogue era". The lens is clean and clear with no issues, no fungus, no haze, no cleaning marks. The included Plaubel skylight filter may have been put on when the camera was new, it appears that way. The meter works and is accurate, and the lighting in the finder is bright and easy to see. The viewfinder is crisp and clear with no haze, this is unusual for these cameras. The rangefinder patch is contrasty and well aligned in both directions. The shutter apeeds are accurate to my ear and the winder is smooth and sure with no issues. The focus wheel around the shutter button moves smoothly both directions and the lens carriage moves easily with it. The lens carriage opens and closes nicely and locks in place, the lens locks open and is solid, like a rock. Even the foam seals inside the back of the camera are in good condition. The body has no cracks or dings or dents. It has normal wear in proper areas.
Why then, such a great price? On the lens are the rings for the shutter speed and aperture adjustment. Plaubels have a little plastic tab that you push to move the rings to set these variables. On this one, the tab on the aperture ring has gone missing and is replaced with a thin strip of grip-tac that actually works better, IMO, than the tab. Now, I'm not saying that this is a good thing, because the camera has essentially lost it's collector's value, but it's a great thing for a person who wants to take pictures with one on the cheap. The last picture in the series shows the grip-tac strip best, and as I said, the ring turns smoothly and easily using this method.
The camera will come with the original box with the bottom half of the styrofoam formed packing, it also comes with the cap, the skylight filter, and the strap as shown in the pictures.
As far as payment goes, I much prefer alternatives to regular paypal. Google wallet, money orders, personal checks or paypal gift will all work. I will include shipping in the USA.
