I am trying to find 6.5 x 9 cm plate holders for my Zeiss Ikon Icarette 500/2 and 551/2. Does anyone know if Voigtländer Avus holders fit my cameras? I have several 9x12 cm folding cameras and know that holders from different manufacturers are not always interchangeable despite all being Normalfaltz.
What is the Zeiss catalogue number (typ) for 6.5 x 9 cm holders?
Any suggestions on where I can get the original Zeiss holders (apart from popular auction sites that I am already monitoring)?
Which model/makes are compatible with Zeiss?

Hi,

Type 665/3 should work...
See page 19 of

I would also expect some Ica holders to fit...

Can't tell you about the Voigtländer holders... even my Zeiss Ikon 726/3 6.5 x 9 cm holders wouldn't help you as they are "Anlegekassetten" / pop up holders.

Best
Jens

Here's an Ica-version with ICA-plateholders

Thank you for the photos. This would be an earlier model of the camera produced before ICA merged into Zeiss Ikon. The body is almost identical apart from the shape of the folding viewfinder. My Icarette 551/2 has a rim-set Compur shutter while an older type 500/2 has a dial-set model.

I bought a set of holders including the original Zeiss Ikon type 665/3, Voigtländer, Nagel and one unmarked. Hopefully, they'll all fit the camera. I'll post an update when I get them.

Nagel holders do not fit the Icarette, their flanges are too thick. Voigtländer and the unmarked holder did fit the camera but I did not test these combinations for light leaks. Zeiss holders have a cut that matches the latch on the camera. The latch prevents from pulling the holder out of the camera while removing the dark slide.

My recommendation is to get the original holders (Zeiss Ikon type 665/3).

good recommendation indeed; with my Zeiss and Ica folding camera's I could only match original Zeiss and Ica holders i.e. the 'double' ones:
