Pipettes in the US

Where are you finding small quantities of Pipettes in the US?

I had gotten mine from Tri-Ess, but they are closed now. I am looking for glass 10mL sizes with the bulbs.

Beat me to it, but I have done business with them for many years with no complaints. Also a good source for miscellaneous glassware and all sorts of silly stuff. The catalog is wonderfully odd.

The Photographers Formulary stocks two types of disposable pipettes in about 3 sizes along with syringes.

I don't use pipettes, but I use syringes. I find them in the baby section at the drug store; about $1.79. A small section of plastic hose from the hardware store or aquarium shop can be fitted on the end to grab the last of the liquid from the bottle of the bottle.

I used to use syringes and they fell apart with the use of PMK and time. I switched to pippettes and they are much easier to handle and operate

I prefer the glass pipettes. They can be reused endlessly. I simply have one for each type of solution that I need pipettes for. After using, I rinse with water. Get the ones with the rubber bulb. You don't want to use "the mouth" method with a number of photographic solutions.

You can also get glass syringes. I doubt that PMK would break them down. If you live near a Fleet & Farm, you'll have a large assortment of interesting things available.

Not the same, the glass syringes DO NOT have the rubber seals. In fact the barrel and plunger are both glass and on some there is nothing but glass. Used to use these back in Uncle Sam's place. They would indeed work and clean up would be easier...was not aware that glass was still around.

I purchased mine off Ebay, seller scilabsup. They have a store, located out of Florida. Great seller, really packed my items well. No chance that they would break.

I purchased a 10ml, 25ml and a 50ml glass pyrex pippet and three-way rubber bulb for like $30 shipped. I like the 10ml, the 25ml and 50ml are huge. And fragile. I'd rather have plastic but ah well.

I'm used to syringes and personally, I prefer them. Plastic ones don't break.
You can fix a thick plastic straw to one and draw up hc110 straight.
They draw up quicker, they dispense easier. They store away easier. They clean easier.

3ml syringes for alt. processes, 10ml for rodinal, etc..
Cheaper too. Kinetronics makes good blunt-tip needles.. Plastic, teflon, stainless steel, etc. Cheaper than a pippet.

I was sorry to see them go. They had a good selection
of glass Boston Rounds and a very good selection of caps
including the Polyseal/Polycone which I think are one's
best chance for a sure seal. Dan

Jim, I used a coffee-stirring straw, sort of a thick one. It fit real snug on the luer slip tip. Worked great. I'm still trying to get the hang of hc110.. I don't know why, I guess i'm hopeless.
