Pinhole cameras compared - new article

In case anyone's interested, I've posted a short comparison of the Zero Image 2000 and the Eight Banners "Sky" wooden pinhole cameras on my site. Go to www.silverbasedstories.com/pinholes.html to see the article.

Let me say up front I'm in no way associated with either company (other than as a consumer) and am only giving an opinion on two products now available. I realize one company is not happy with the other, but it seems like there will now be a whole new batch of pinhole cameras for those in the market.

Personally, I think both are great products and woth investingating further.

Not to bring a fight, but a few quick searches of the US Patent office produced nothing for pinhole photographic cameras. I'm far from an expert in reseaching patents, but it seems so common place that it would be impossible to be granted one in the US. Searching ebay it looks like the Zero Image cameras are also gone, don't know if that's due to stock or the complaint against 8banners. Hopefully they can work things out. Basically it's the differences that set them apart, they are both a basic box built out of wood. They both use roll film, and they both capture images. Your review points out the differences very well.

Zero cameras are on eBay from time to time. Mostly people who own one and no longer want it. Zero sells mostly from their website.

The ones I have seen on eBay often sell for more than they do when new! Especially the multi-format version.

As far as the patent issue, I don't know if Zero has its design protected. While there are some similarities between the two which seem a bit close for comfort, how many other ways can you make a them different (other than cosmetically)?

But what started to happen on eBay did get very childish and I was surprised by it.
