Just received a GW690III on flea bay and the shutter speeds seem accurate. The counter reads 027 and the condition looks great cosmetically.

This is partially what the seller stated in his ad:

"I had this (GW690III) and the Leica camera I have listed now,
checked out by a camera shop, and they
used a roll of film checking this one out.
The photos came out great and the camera is working perfectly."

Now when I activate the shutter, I hear this pinging sound but no real vibration that I could detect. Can this be a normal variation? BTW, I have another GW690III and two GSW690IIIs and they don't have any pinging.

If this is a problem, who fixes these out of production cameras? Fuji (are they in NJ) or Precision Camera Works in Chicago?

Are you hearing the counter when firing the shutter. For rangefinders, these Fujis are not all that quiet. Mine make noise when firing them, but I can't say it's a pinging noise.

My GW690II 'pings' too but I believe what you're hearing is the mechanism that activates the shot counter rather than the leaf shutter itself. Personally I don't find it as a sign of needing repair. The Fuji 670/690 mechanism is just a lot clunkier than other leaf shutter cameras.
