Picturing Darkness: Night Photography
Instructor: Bruce Dunbar
Tuesday Oct 10 (Rain date: Thursday Oct 19)
7 - 10 pm

Explore the visual possibilities of photography at night. This hands-on, nocturnal workshop includes classroom instruction followed by a guided shoot around Union Square. Then, students are free to explore the wonders of the New York night and experiment on their own. Students will review historical and contemporary photographers working at night and learn technical and aesthetic aspects of night photography. We'll consider how to meter night scenes, long exposures and the use of flash, various films and special equipment. Students may work in color or black and white and any camera format including digital.
