the metal "spring" has a set screw that is placed in the edge of wooden frame , it easy to do and one needs only a screwdriver. The type of spring your talking about, I think, are those that are used with metal rails. I have never seen that type with wooden frames.
they do not, or didn't use framer's points, altho, you could use such if you had the tool, etc.
