I'd like to set up my SSK-8r to run B&W with either TF-5 or Rapid Fix & Hypo Clearing Agent. The Phototherm's B&W steps though only indicate 2x 2 minute washes & a HCA step. Were I to go to TF5 I'd simply route the HCA line to a water jug. My concern is that even 3 bath changes and 6 minutes of agitation may not be an archival wash. Is my best bet to stick with Rapid fix plus HCA or will TF-5 plus 3 baths work?
The other option would be to route the Photo Flo line to the water jug to add a 4th water bath, and do Photo Flo by hand...
I have not used a Phototherm in ages, I suspect that all those wash schemes are OK with one shot fixer, reusing fixer in a machine like this is going to build up the "bad" fix byproducts that are harder to wash out. Give if the weekend, I'm sure there will be more responses.
