Photostock 2015
Harbor Springs/Cross Village, Michigan
June 18 - 21, 2015

Hello!

it's time to make the official APUG announcement for Photostock2015!

As many of you know, this event began in this forum 10 years ago with a post inviting people for a gathering in my woods in northern Michigan. Well, it's come a long way since then and this year we're going to take it even further. We have a lot going on with three workshops planned and a growing group of talented photographers giving featured presentations.

Starting on June 11th, our very own, Kerik Kouklis will be teaching a three-day shop on platinum/palladium printing. This will be followed by another of our own, Clay Harmon giving a three-day workshop starting on June 13th in the polymer photogravure process. The workshops will culminate with the final three-day shop starting on June 17th and being taught by the one and only Christina Z. Anderson in the tri-color gum bichromate process. All three classes will be held in the nearly completed workshop facility many here helped support. (All workshops fees will include general registration for the main event, so consider this when registering. There will also be a multiple workshop discount of 10% for two or 15% for all three workshops.)

This will all be followed by three days of cameras, shooting and prints beginning June 18th and running through the weekend. Featured Presenters this year include, Christina Z. Anderson, Anne Berry, Carlos Diaz, Chris Faust, Kerik Kouklis, Lori Vrba and more to be announced. It's truly going to be a great 10th anniversary gathering!!

General registration opens today and is specially discounted for one week only with hopes that everyone takes advantage of this 50% off.
March 23rd, the registration cost will go up, so be sure to take advantage by signing up now if you plan to come.

Thank you and I hope to see you this summer!!!

All best, Bill Schwab

Congrats on your tenth anniversary, Bill! You've worked hard to grow this thing into one of the premier events of its kind in the world.

Do you think you might host a less formal autumn gathering again this year? Last year's was just too little advance notice for me to shake free from work.

Hi Mike! Thanks!! You're one of the originals and have been there since the beginning. It seems like just yesterday.

Yes, definitely will be a Fall version. My thinking is to move that one around so that we get a change of scenery. Talk of many cool places including a potential future gather at one of the greatest National Parks in the country, but I'm getting ahead of myself. This year I am thinking on the Keweenaw Peninsula in the UP. Many cool things to photograph surrounding the mining ruins and I think it would be a great place to gather. Looking at maybe September 24-27 in Calumet, Michigan. Stay tuned!

Thanks to everyone that has registered so far and taken advantage of the discount period! It was a great first 24 hours and might even be a record. Only six more days left for the discount! Don't let it pass by if planning to join us!

When will the schedule show more than just the workshops?
True to Photostock form, it is usually about a week ahead of time that all is fleshed out. There will be speakers every night, but we are still working out travel arrangements and when people will be here. A lot of people come early, but nothing aside from workshops is scheduled prior to Thursday. Stay tuned here and in the website for updates.

Ack! When I first supported the building of the workshop I thought I'd be out there the year after or at least the year after that. Alas! Circumstances change and with a recent new position with my company cannot go this year again. Darn. Will be out there one day I promise. Everyone have a great time. Jealous!!

Richard!!!
I was just about to write people from the first campaign about the progress, to invite them to the gathering and to see about the remaining one on ones. I'm glad you chimed in! Hoping you are well. You are welcome anytime, so please keep in touch. (for anyone that doesn't know, Richard's was the pledge that put the first campaign over. Part of our personal history.)

All Best, Bill

OK, it's June, so it is officially Photostock month. I'll be there, and I have some things to give away. Free! To good home! I have gobs of magazines, thanks to Robert Bender. Most of them are Black and White Photography from England. There are a few View Cameras. And a Blind Spot or two. First come, first served. I'll bring them along. Also, I have nearly a gallon of Glacial Acetic Acid.

In the not free category, I have a 24-120 Nikkor Zoom, the older version for film cameras. I'd like $75 for it.

I would like to talk to somebody about recovering fixer from silver and about using a film cutter for 35 and 120 film. And if you have an Epson V700 scanner with all the holders, I'd certainly like to hear about it.

Thanks! And see you in a couple of weeks!

Leaving tomorrow for Photostock. Very excited! I have two "shoots" scheduled on the way up. Digital. Color. Can't mention that here. :whistling:
