Yes, there's a possibility, but so far, the media, the damned WHO and others are crossing that 'possibility' bridge without even dealing with things realistically - and when the bridge's in the far,far-distance, thank God!
The US CDC website has data since 2000(or earlier) and so far, in a decade, there were a total of ~ 6,000 deaths. Incredible, inconsolable for the victim's families, but in the bigger picture, not that many.
The sober assessment should be that 'we might have an issue if it breaks certain scale' (from what I read, ebola isnt passed on by air, but by touch/exposure to bodily fluids).
Creating mass-hysteria has the one effect of giving govts the license to act unintelligibly and totally contrary to what might be required.
Instead of assessing what's changed this year, since the time Ebola's known - the idea seems to be 'lets put the word out there, and hope it solves the problem'! (almost like jumping in a stuck lift, hoping it reaches it's destination)
And, so far, with luck, it hasn't doubled every week, god forbid.
There was a lot of hullabaloo about SARS too - but what did happen really?
