Last night, Ovation TV started a week-long series on photography with three one-hour specials.

The first - Photographers at Work, featured three photographers. One of them, Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, was relatively well known, while another, Sylvia Plachy, is probably known only in NYC where she has been associated with the Village Voice forever. She is also the mother of actor Adrian Brody. The other three were less well known.

I found it very interesting that three of the five photographers worked in large format. In addition to Greenfield-Sanders (who works with an 11x14 Folmer-Schwing), Andrew Moore uses an 8x10 camera to record cityscapes, while Gregory Crewdson shoots carefully crafted lifestyle vignettes in that same format.

And four of the five photographers use film.

It's running again this weekend, some really interesting stuff. A piece on Cindy Sherman as well.

Cheers,
Bill
