Hi guys, I'm photographing a sapphire ring pic's below,
I'm not sure how to go about lighting it, the edge of the stone is quite dark, but it is a very dark stone. it could be the setting, maybe its not even a problem, are shots like this usually composites? should i light each facet separately? i don't know what i can expect from this stone.
The things i'm uncertain about are..
the diamond has a glare from the top facet, i thought this was what i wanted, but now that i have it i don't really like it.
the sapphire is nether dark nor bright, this was me over editing it, but as you can see it looks really bad in the original, no depth or saturation.
Any input will be appreciated.
