Per Volquartz did the logo.

All of you who have volunteered, just send me a PM with your email address and I will send you the template.

Aggie, why not post the template on line by attaching it to this post via the manage attachments button.

This way it will be readily available to all who wish it. You can then setup a yahoo mail account or your own to collect the completed forms.

Just a thought...

easier for me to do it this way. Those helping can just PM me with their email, and I send it out to them. I can do it really quick. Then they will automatically have my email address.

Oh and after meeting James a friend of Davids/Livemoa's today I have also decided to include galleries that include photography. For those who have received the template already, just add that as a regular email, and I will enter it in here. Dan will not be able to do the change until tomorrow.

DC rep reporting here. Please PM me the template. (It can handle attachments, can't it?)

frcontrone@yahoo.com is my email. Just email me and tonight when I get home, I will send the updated template with the gallery part added. Now if you can figure out what frcontrone means (for those i haven't told) and you help with this project, I have a prize for you. I'd offer one of my photos, but I am no Les McLean. So if you don't want one of those, I will kick in a box of film (one box 4x5, or a propack of your favorite film)

How is everyone doing? I want to get this up next week the latest. I know there will be many gaps until we get more coverage, but it will be a start.

I notice that you have someone volunteering from Athens, Greece already but I may have a couple of places outside of Athens...
James

I can report from Tajikistan. And as only C-41 process is available here, I would really want to know what is available in Uzbekistan, Kirgistan etc.

I can send info from Mexico city. How about including a list of APUG members in each location?

How is this coming? has anyone put the database out there? I'd like to contribute too if I can. I'll be in Buenos Aires in a couple weeks, and I'll make notes of what I find to report back.

I don't think this has gone anywhere. I've been thinking about this for the past couple of weeks or so. If there is enough interest, I will put up a page on my website to publish this information, and also make it available via RSS.

What kind of info do you guys want exactly?

Locally, I cover an area of Toledo OH, Bowling Green OH, Fremont OH, and Dearborn MI.

I know where to buy B/W chemistry, 35mm and 120 format films, and processing for those films. I know where to get my Widelux negs scanned, and where to get my Widelux prints printed.

When I travel, I'd like to know that same info for other places, as well as maybe film camera stores that I might stop at along the way. Vintage cameras are an interest, too.

So I guess my question is:
What form does the info take? What info would you like to have?

My thoughts were somewhere along the lines of:

------------------------------------------
Shop Name
Address
City
State (if applicable)
Country
Phone
Web Address
EMail

[x] 35mm Film (Color B&W)
[x] 120mm Film (Color B&W)
[x] LF (4x5) Film (Color B&W)
[x] ULF Film
[x] E-6 Processing
[x] C-41 Processing
[x] B&W Processing

Notes (directions, etc)

------------------------------------------
Any additional thoughts welcome,

Any additional thoughts welcome,

Robert- I found two resources in Buenos Aires, Argentina....

One is a camera shop, the other a photographer with a rental studio and darkroom.

The store is : http://www.centromayoristafoto.com.ar/

They have film from 35mm to 4x5, and they carry a range of cameras, darkroom equipment, and lighting.

The photographer is Diego Lapiz, who rents out his studio and has a rental darkroom available - Dead Link Removed

Thanks for the followup - I'll use these two for testing and design. I'm working on a webpage so people can submit their finds directly. Should have it up in a few days.

I'd add one more thing to the list: GPS co-ords, if available. My BMW (m-c) dealer book includes them, and they're a godsend in a strange place.

Otherwise, looks great!

Sweden calling

Sweden calling!

Send me the form and i will fill it in on swedens behalf.

Happy to help..

Cheers johannes

In West Africa I've found C41 labs (as well as some supplies) in Accra, Ghana and in Dakar, Senegal. Film selection is mostly consumer stuff. Ironically there are a ton of digital photo kiosks in Dakar.

If this is still alive, I'll pick the glove for Israel...

While not as comprehensive as this sounds, Dead Link Removed has some of the necessary resources in what will be a world wife form. I also sponsor apug so you should love us even more.

Hi Aggie-

This looks like a business model in process ??

I wonder if it worked ?

As mentioned in another thread, I have the hubby type who has worked hard (5 minutes worth) to put together a data base for me. It will catagorise the various types of products/services available to photographers around the world. When you travel some of the questions that arise is: Will I be able to obtain my tpe of film at that location? What if my camera breaks in Katmundu where do I get it repaired? Are there rental darkrooms in Costa rica? The list goes on. As Philldresser has suggested, instead of me slowly going to people to get their information about their location, and entering it all myself, I need people who woule volunteer for their respective location and use a template I would supply to enter the data. this then can be incorporated into the main data base and more quicly become available to all.

It will be available on the Emulsion Magazine site, which Sean is linking directly to apug. It will help both sites attract more people.
I don't know when something like this need updating all the time?
