Photographers you recently 'discovered'

Francesco Radino is a Milan based photographer who's quite well-known in Italy and might not be elsewhere. He is equally adept in B&W and colour but it is his B&W work from the last two decades of 20th century that appeals to me a lot.

I just picked up his book 'Living Apart', terrific work. I'd love a copy of 'The English' but it's long OOP and a good used copy is very expensive.

I'm a big Stephen Shore fan as well, although I don't like to hear him speak about his work as it sounds like endless psychobabble to my ears.
 
Dawoud Bey has been a major discovery for me - can't believe no one pointed me to his work before.

While not new to me, I re-discover the colour photography of Alex Webb every time I open one of his books.

Most photographers in "The New Black Vanguard: Photography between art and fashion" were new to me, including the extraordinarily talented Tyler Mitchell. This is an amazing book.

I recently discovered the work of Stephen Shames, a documentary photographer who reminds me a lot of a favorite of mine, Eugene Richards.

I'm obviously late to the party on this one as Shames has 15 monographs to his name, a list of awards as long as my arm and his work is in the permanent collections of numerous museums, including MoMa, SF MoMa, George Eastman Museum, ICP, etc.

You mentioned Mario Algaze. If you were unaware he died last year September. Mario was a friend and I have all his books and several prints. Also a few years back we did a collaboration and I printed a limited series of four of his works for him in platinum/palladium/gold. For my efforts I have three sets (10,11 & 12) of each plus the printer’s proofs which I had framed and are on my wall If you or anyone is interested in one of the numbered sets contact me. Rest in peace Mario.
