Hello all, I have been in my current location for about 4 years. When I lived in Colorado, I had a network of fellow black and white photographers to comiserate with. Now I live in the middle of an amazing photo paradise but 3 hours from Vegas. Anyone in/around Vegas that wants to comiserate or even find some unknown spots to set the tripod? RB

Welcome to APUG, Bob.

I think we've crossed paths on another forum. You're a ranger in Death Valley, no?

I live in New York, but I visit my parents occasionally in Vegas and often find myself driving up to Deep Springs College just two valleys over. Haven't been to Death Valley since I was a student at Deep Springs (1984-6) and we took a four-day hike starting at the Eureka Valley Sand Dunes (we cached water in DV in advance). I remember we went up this canyon that was just off the corner between two topo maps, and it got narrower and narrower as we went up, so we weren't sure if we'd have to backtrack. At the top it seemed maybe six feet wide and opened up onto a plain of Joshua trees and a magnificent view of the Valley.

I should be out there for a couple weeks in January. Might be time for another DV trip.

Hello Bob,

I am in Las Vegas and will be in DV mid Jan 07 and possibly 1st part of Dec 06...

Hi Bob. Just up the hill in Tonopah. Anything to shoot in DV? I've heard it's warm there in January. I might even be caught up a little by then. Jim Galli

Welcome from up I-15 from Vegas. I'm right by St. George. I sort of have this great view out my back door of Zion National park.

Tonopah, Vegas and viciinity. Good. I think there are some really good spots in DV. Just not the ones everyone else goes to. Some on the periphery as well.
