Hi Folks,

I had a bit of a light bulb moment last night. I have been looking at a lot of portrait photographers work and listening to the occasional podcast, trying to get some inspiration.

Then it dawned on me - why am I ignoring the greats? Why am I overlooking the photographers who everyone else seems to get inspiration from?

So, I sat down and googled "Irving Penn" and starting looking at his work (Dead Link Removed). It seems like a bit of a "Duh" moment, but I had my breath taken away by the timeless beauty in so much of his work. Sure, I have seen a lot of these before, but I had never really LOOKED at them.

Some days its a good idea to put the Instagrams and the Flickrs to the side and start actually looking at where we have come from and understand why the greats are, well, great.

Is there anyone else out there like me? Who are the photographers that you have overlooked, only to have a lightbulb moment when you view them later?

Cheers
