Photographers Formulary Rodinal Mixing HELP!

Well, finally got around to mixing up my kit of Rodinal from Photographers Formulary, which I now see is no longer listed as a product on their website. The directions that were given in the box are incomplete, stopping after page 2 where both A and B are mixed, missing the crucial page 3 & 4. After mixing and figuring out the missing pages, I then added the Hydroxide slowly into the P-aminophenol. Color did change, to that nice Rodinal color. The question I have is the kit was for 250ml, yet the directions called for 156ml H20 in A and 125ml in B, which to me seems like a wee bit more than 250ml!! And that is proved out by the total solution being closer to 300ml, which now has a sort of sludge at the bottom. So, is there a step that I am missing? Should I decant? Any help would be great.

If my memory serves me right they have a tad more hydroxide that needed for the solution, you should only add enough for some flakes to form in the solution, after that there may be some additional sludge, but it should vanish if you shake the solution good, if there is still some sludge left, I would suggest you filter your solution. As far as your solution being 50ml more than the water intake, it might be gaining a bit in volume because of all the powdered chems your dissolved in that water. I would just try it with some film
