Hi Folks

Does anyone know if the Formula of Photo-flo has changed

I recently bought some photo-flo Kodak.. something I haven't had to buy for years.. But my wife has been sucking it down with her silk fusion process..
Anyway mixed a gallon of the stuff.. and about a week later it had the strongest odder of sulfur dioxide.. So does anybody know if the chemical formula has been changed.. this has never happened to me before and I had it sit around in the darkroom for months..

What was in the bottle before you used it for Photoflo?

Photo Flo 200 and Photo Flo 600 are different.

PF600 uses Ethylene Glycol.

The dilution ratios are also very different.

But what could cause the sulfur odor in either one? I am fortunate that my deep water well does not have a strong iron-sulfur odor as most others in the vicinity do. It is very hard, laced with calcium and magnesium, so I stay away from carbonate in my print developers as a rule. I think hard water is better for my health than artificially softened water. At least I don't have to buy calcium-magnesium suplements.

I have occasionally used a little dishwashing detergent as a wetting agent.

I think I really am getting old. I stay in the same chair a lot, but I wander off mentally.

There is no sulfur containing compound in Photo Flo.

The only source of sulfur would be carryover of fix by poorly washed FB paper into used PF. The amount of carryover from film or RC paper is tiny by comparison.

Another alternative would be direct contamination of the PF with fix.
